Job Description

Poshmark Off Campus Hiring – Software Engineering Intern

Responsibilities:

• Enhance detection and incident response capabilities using automation.
• Develop use cases for Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR).
• Implement automations utilizing various SOC tools, including SOAR, SIEM, ticketing systems, and other security tools.
• Automate phishing email remediation through software engineering skills and security tools.
• Fine-tune alerts to minimize false positives and automate alert responses.
• Work with SRE and other security teams to address issues.
• Manage SIEM for adding and improving alerts and other features.
• Deploy security monitoring solutions across Poshmark environments.
• Conduct threat hunting to detect malicious activities.
• Use Indicators of Compromise (IoCs) and other data to enrich information.

Minimum Qualifications:

• College graduate with a major in information security or software engineering.
• Proficient coding skills in one or more languages (Python, Go, Bash, etc.).
• Strong interest in information security, including knowledge of current threats, security best practices, and detection methods for various attacks.
• Familiarity with concepts such as security incident response, vulnerabilities, threats, actors, IoCs, network security, and OS/system security.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and experience using GitHub.
• Technical knowledge of network fundamentals and common Internet protocols, including DNS, HTTP, HTTPS/TLS, and SMTP.

• Experience with incident response, malware analysis, and threat hunting.
• Background in SRE, DevOps, or SecDevOps.
• GCIA or relevant certifications.

6-Month Accomplishments:

• Identify use cases for detection and response automation.
• Assist the SOC in building automations using the SOAR tool.
• Find methods to extract phishing URLs from emails.
• Develop automation to remediate phishing URLs using security tools.
• Stay informed on the current IT threat landscape and upcoming security trends.
• Create new high-fidelity detections and incident response playbooks.

12+ Month Accomplishments:

• Reduce Mean-Time-to-Detect (MTTD) and Mean-Time-to-Respond (MTTR) through enhanced automation.
• Continuously improve the Security Operations posture by refining detections, developing high-fidelity alerts, and maintaining updated incident response playbooks.
