Key Responsibilities:

  • Moody’s RMS Geospatial team is engaged in the development of Vision Information Transformer and Large Scale Generative AI models designed to identify features from remotely sensed datasets.
  • The primary goal of this advanced AI/ML technology is to analyze large volumes of satellite/aerial data efficiently, identifying specific objects and patterns within a short timeframe.
  • The Geospatial team is currently seeking a skilled intern who is enthusiastic about AI/ML and eager to contribute to and learn from AI projects.
  • Research opportunities for the intern include, but are not limited to, detecting damage severity from post-event images of wind-induced hazards, improving object detection through denoising and image enhancement, identifying high-rise clusters, and detecting changes.
  • During the internship, the candidate will collaborate with experienced professionals and explore cutting-edge AI technologies and algorithms within the remote sensing domain.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Currently pursuing post-graduation (Masters/PhD) in Geoinformatics, Remote Sensing, Earth Sciences, or hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Computer Science, or Environmental Science from a reputable institution.
  • Possess strong mathematical proficiency in machine learning, computer vision, and numerical techniques.

Preferred skills:

  • Familiarity with CNN-based AI architectures.
  • Comprehensive understanding of remote sensing technology, including classification, segmentation, change detection, and decorrelation algorithms for analyzing hyper/multi-spectral satellite/aerial images.
  • Proficiency in Python programming, with practical experience in:
    • Machine Learning Libraries: Scikit-Learn, Scikit-Image, Tensorflow, Keras, GluonCV, and PyTorch.
    • Image processing and Geospatial Libraries: OpenCV, GDAL, Geopandas, and RasterIO.
  • Knowledge of ESRI GIS software products and hands-on experience with open-source platforms such as QGIS, GRASS, etc.
  • Familiarity with Google Earth Engine is considered advantageous.
