Associate Analyst, Risk Management

The Opportunity

This position offers the chance to assist the firm and its client-serving professionals in making informed decisions regarding client and engagement acceptance, ensuring alignment with EY’s internal compliance policies and regulatory framework. The role includes assessing the risks associated with each client and engagement and recommending mitigation strategies. As an independence professional, you will lead projects aimed at identifying and evaluating risks related to the firm’s audit clients, particularly maintaining the firm’s independence concerning audit clients and aiding engagement teams in mitigating these risks.

The ideal candidate should thrive in a dynamic and complex environment, requiring innovative thinking, logical reasoning, strong communication skills, and quick decision-making abilities. They should continuously enhance assigned processes and develop solutions for undocumented scenarios.

  • Conduct research using both systematic and intuitive secondary research techniques.
  • Analyze research findings, draw inferences, and formulate conclusions based on research requirements.
  • Understand key requirements of the firm’s and regulators’ risk management rules and policies.
  • Utilize analytical and project management methodologies and tools.
  • Complete all assigned projects/tasks in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure the completeness, accuracy, and appropriateness of all tasks assigned.
  • Facilitate and drive processes to completion by promptly following up on requests from Onshore.
  • Plan and organize own work, keeping project managers/key stakeholders informed of status and activities.
  • Perform self-review of results prior to submitting to project managers.
  • Flag issues or potential challenges to project managers promptly to enable timely action.

  • Well-developed analytical, interpersonal, and communication (both verbal and written) skills in English.
  • Intermediate level of knowledge in MS Office.
  • Familiarity with financial instruments used for investment purposes like shares, mutual funds, insurance, etc.
  • Knowledge of terminologies like ISIN, CUSIPs, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of the difference between risk advisory and risk management.
  • Presentation skills, including public speaking and creating presentations using PowerPoint or a similar program.
  • Critical thinking skills with the ability to independently solve problems using data.
