Job Description
American Express – Analyst (Data Science): Responsibilities
- Collaborate with product owners to comprehend business priorities and client needs, delivering scalable products in a consultative manner.
- Utilize expertise in insights generation and tools such as MS Power Platform, HIVE, Python, SQL, and VBA to prototype new solutions iteratively.
- Enhance existing insights tools by understanding client usage and offering design recommendations to the Insights Product Management team.
- Enable data-driven actionable insights for field and clients to drive growth and retention.
- Conduct prototyping of insights products and services based on client requirements.
- Create additional revenue streams by monetizing insights products.
- Conceptualize and develop client-facing insights solutions.
- Strengthen solution algorithms through internal and external research to position them as industry-leading products for American Express.
- Align the role’s agenda with enterprise priorities, balancing customer requirements, partnerships, colleagues, and shareholder interests.
- Challenge the status quo, bring continuous innovation to existing offerings, and lead with an external perspective.
- Demonstrate learning agility, make decisions promptly with the highest level of integrity.
- Drive a process excellence framework for process automation and enhance individual and group productivity.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Econometrics, Mathematics, or Operations Research.
- Hands-on experience in Data Analytics or other data handling tools (SQL/SAS/Hive/Python/MS Power Platform).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps (Canvas and Model Driven apps) and Power Automate.
- Deep understanding of machine learning/statistical algorithms (e.g., deep learning and forecasting), with experience in data visualization considered a plus.
- Ability to translate KPIs into practical and insightful information.
- Experience in large data processing and handling, with a strong understanding of data science as an advantage.
- Strong communication skills to convey complex algorithms and results in simple terms.
- Exceptional execution skills, capable of issue resolution, opportunity identification, defining success metrics, and delivering results.
- Eagerness to find solutions to complex problems.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, cross-functional environment with a keen attention to detail.
- Exceptional strategic and analytical thinking with Project Management experience.
