Cigna is looking for an entry-level Software Engineer to join our team and contribute to our software development initiatives aimed at creating robust APIs and microservices. The ideal candidate will collaborate with our existing team to develop technical solutions, write clean code, and ensure the successful delivery of software products aligned with our business objectives.

Responsibilities

• Manage software projects to ensure timely delivery within budget constraints while maintaining high quality.
• Implement solutions using Test-Driven Development (TDD) methodology.
• Implement project plans and application designs to ensure alignment with established standards and IT strategy.

Development:

• Adhere to design principles and development processes to create scalable, secure, and efficient solutions, collaborating with senior team members.

Operational Efficiency:

• Utilize DevSecOps practices to optimize engineering operations, streamline processes, tools, and workflows to boost productivity.

Requirements

• Strong programming skills with a solid grasp of data structures and algorithms.
• Proficiency in one of the following programming languages: Python, NodeJS, JVM (Java, Spring Boot, Kotlin), or .NET.
• Understanding of software design principles and the OSI model.
• Familiarity with SQL, database concepts, key-value stores, and the HTTP protocol.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team while confidently expressing ideas.

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
